WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO LIVE ON CAMPUS?
ANSWER: Students wanting to live on campus are required to fill out a housing and food service contract and required medical forms. Telling your coach or counselor that you want to live on campus doesn’t count. The housing contract is due as soon as possible. The medical forms are not due until the day you move in. Students must pay their deposit first before being placed in campus housing. Returning students must be registered for classes before being placed in campus housing.
I AM NOT LIVING ON CAMPUS, WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?
ANSWER: All students planning on commuting must fill out a residency exemption form and return it to the Student Experience Suite. All forms are reviewed by a committee to ensure that there are not requirements for each particular students, including scholarships. Students will be notified by email for any issues.
WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO LIVE ON CAMPUS?
ANSWER: All incoming students are placed in one of the four traditional buildings on campus. Non- traditional and transfer students will be placed on a waitlist for apartment- style housing and placed there if space allows. All buildings are a great choice and will meet the needs of the residents living inside. There are co-ed and gender-specific options. Building makeups are subject to change based on residential need, year to year.

The Office of Residence Life & Housing does not create a sport specific floor or building. Although you may have several teammates around you, it is important part of living on campus to meet new people outside of your team.
WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY ROOM ASSIGNMENT FOR ON CAMPUS LIVING?
ANSWER: You will receive your room assignment by the middle of July once you have made your deposit and submitted your housing contract. If you do not receive your room assignment, please contact housing@youlvxin.net. Due to limited amount of space, make sure to submit your deposit and housing contract promptly! Room assignments are sent to your Lake Erie College email address.
Preferred housing is given to students who submit their contract by May 1. After May 1, The Office of Residence Life may be working off of a waitlist, and students will be notified as soon as space becomes available. People are placed first come first serve at the date that a contract is received by our office. HOW DO YOU MATCH ROOMMATES?
HOW DO YOU MATCH ROOMATES?
ANSWER: Roommates are matched by similarities such as sport, major, or hometown. We also focus on study habits and sleeping habits to create a conducive living situation, so please make sure that you fill out your housing application honestly. You will receive the contact information for your roommate once they have been assigned. We encourage you to contact your roommate to get to know them and to find out what you should bring with you for the fall semester.
At times, people seem as if they match perfectly on paper, but they may be complete opposites once they meet. As a student at Lake Erie College, it is an expectation that you make attempts to compromise and form agreements with your roommate. Students are unable to request a room change until after the 2nd week of classes.
Lake Erie College does not make changes to roommates based on what you learn on social media! Students who request a particular roommate are taken into consideration but it is not guaranteed. Roommate requests depend on date contracts are received and availability at the time of student placement. (Meaning if two roommates request each other, and one contract is received in May and the other in August, there is no guarantee that students will be placed together.)
I WANT A SINGLE ROOM, HOW DO I GET THAT?
ANSWER: We offer medical singles to students who provide required documentation. Students who request a single room not for medical need will be put on the waitlist and placed as space is available. Students may also have the option to buyout the other half of a double room to ensure a single space for additional cost.
CAN I LIVE ON CAMPUS DURING THE SUMMER OR BREAK PERIODS?
ANSWER: Although summer housing is offered, students must live in residential housing at Lake Erie College for at least a semester in order to be eligible for summer housing. College housing never closes and students are permitted to stay as needed over breaks/summer.
WHAT IS PROVIDED IN MY ROOM?
ANSWER: Each student room is furnished with a bed, mattress, chest of drawers, wardrobe or closet, desk, and desk chair. All furniture that is in the room must stay in the room. There is WiFi in each room, but cable is only available in the common areas. Students living in The Tower have completely furnished apartments and only need to bring personal items.
CAN I BRING MY PET?
ANSWER: For health and sanitation reasons, the only pets allowed in residence halls and apartments are fish (maximum 20-gallon tank). Emotional support animals may be considered providing proper medical documentation. Please contact housing@youlvxin.net as soon as possible for that process. Please note, emotional support dogs are not permitted in the traditional residence halls, and there is a weight/size limit for animals.
MAY I BRING MY CAR TO COLLEGE?
ANSWER: All students are permitted to bring a car to campus. All students must register cars during the first week of classes. When you check in, you will have the opportunity to register your car. Security Office has parking passes for residents and commuter students. There is no additional cost, as the parking pass in included in the fees.
HOW SHOULD I HAVE MY MAIL ADDRESSED?
ANSWER: Whether on campus or in The Tower residence hall in the city, tell all your friends and relatives to address your mail as follows:

*It is imperative that the address does NOT read P.O. BOX. These words and incorrect zip code will misdirect your mail by the U.S. Post Office causing a delay in mail service. *Students may get their mail combinations during check-in or at the mail room located in the basement of College Hall.
IS A DAMAGE DEPOSIT REQUIRED?
ANSWER: While LEC does not collect an initial damage deposit, we do charge student accounts for damages incurred throughout the semester. This sometimes includes charges for common area damage when the person responsible is not known. It will be your responsibility as a student to keep the residence halls free from vandalism and intentional damages. We encourage all students to hold one another accountable in keeping their “homes” clean. If you wouldn’t do it at home, don’t do it here.
HOW ARE THE RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS STAFFED?
ANSWER: Resident Assistants are student leaders living in the buildings who are responsible for a designated floor or building. We select and train upper-class campus leaders to serve as counselor, administrator, disciplinarian, activity director, role model and friend. Resident Directors are graduate level staff that live in the buildings to help oversee the RAs and serve as an emergency contact after hours.
ARE ANY PROVISIONS MADE FOR STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL DIETARY NEEDS?
ANSWER: Metz Food Service is very accommodating to our students and are willing to work with any student to provide healthy options or with special dietary needs. Students with hectic schedules can also work with Metz to make sure they have the accommodations that they need, i.e. Equestrian students with early morning classes. *All students who reside in campus resident halls are required to have a meal plan.

HOW SAFE IS CAMPUS?
ANSWER: All residence halls and apartments are locked 24 hours a day. Only residents of a particular hall will have key access. Guests must be escorted at all times while in the building. At least one member of the Residence Life Staff is on-call after 5:00 p.m. daily, and there is coverage twenty-four hours each day on weekdays. During the weekday, all concerns should be directed towards the Student Experience Suite. The campus escort service is available by calling Security at 440.375.7575.
To ensure that our security measures are fully effective, you must assist us by locking your room door, not propping entrance doors, escorting guests to your room, and reporting suspicious activities or persons to Security.
DOES THE COLLEGE PROVIDE PERSONAL PROPERTY INSURANCE?
ANSWER: Students are encouraged to obtain "Renter's Insurance" if not covered under a home policy. Insurance for your personal property is NOT available through the College. However, information is available through the Student Experience Suite. www.worthavegroup.com; www.nssi.com
I PLAN TO BE IN THE TOWER RESIDENCE HALL IN A FURNISHED APARTMENT WHEN IT BECOMES AVAILABLE. HOW WILL MY PARKING, TRASH, AND HEAT/COOLING BE MANAGED?
ANSWER: There is one parking space in the parking lot for each bed. Access to the lot will be through the same key card provided for the common area. There will be a designated parking space in the front of the building for a guest To give the students more square footage in their apartments trash dumpsters will be outside in a fenced area of the parking lot adjacent to the building instead of on each floor. All units are fully furnished with heating and cooling individually controlled by each apartment.
WHEN IS MOVE-IN?
ANSWER: For the traditional on-campus residence halls, move-In details will be distributed via email.

WHEN AND HOW DO I PAY MY BILLS?
ANSWER:
Payment terms: Tuition is due August 1 for fall term and December 1 for spring term.
A Time Payment Plan is available over 9 to 10 months. If you sign up in July it is 9 months and if signed up by August 1st it would be 8 months as all plans end in March.

Click "My Account Balances" Click "Course and Fee Statement" or "Make a Payment" From here you can make a credit card payment, which will be posted directly to your student account.
